Environmental, Health and Safety Management
Environmental, health and safety (EH&S) management and compliance are critical to the foundation of all successful businesses. Great Lakes’ staff has helped numerous facilities solve existing compliance problems and assisted several others in minimizing future liability through internal EH&S compliance auditing. We can generate web-based, interactive reporting of audit findings and recommendations, computerized tracking of corrective actions with monitoring capabilities for a client’s corporate EH&S department's programs, and development of ISO 14000 compliant Environmental Management Systems. Integration of an environmental management system (EMS) into a company's strategic plan produces mutual awareness for environmental and business processes, limiting liability and unexpected financial needs. For those clients not wishing to pursue formal certification, we can help identify and develop strategies that provide EMS benefits without the ISO compliance burdens.
Great Lakes routinely works with local, State and Federal agencies to obtain permit approvals for air emissions; petroleum and chemical bulk storage; discharges to surface water and municipal wastewater treatment systems; storm water pollution prevention plans; industrial discharge monitoring; wastewater/solid waste sampling; hazardous and solid waste management (SARA Reports: Tier I & II, Title III); chemical bulk storage tank compliance (SPCC) and tank integrity testing; wetlands mitigation; and dredge/fill activities. Additionally, we assist clients in the development of waste minimization programs; development of Risk Management Plans; preparation of Process Safety Management programs; performance of Process Safety Hazard Analyses; and provide on-site, customized training designed to meet OSHA and EPA standards. The experience of our seasoned professionals in negotiating permit conditions with the regulators, coupled with our familiarity with diverse manufacturing and commercial operations, enables us to manage the permitting process efficiently while keeping our clients’ interests and objectives in mind.
